Launching Commissions

As you may have seen by the title of this post, I'm relaunching commissions. They are going to be a bit different than what I have done before.

I have included the details in the product description, but I thought it might help for me to include my plans for these commissions here as well. I welcome any feedback you might have.

If you read my previous blog post, you know that I am hoping to raise some extra income for our family. To do this, I wanted to make more personal art you might be able to appreciate more than my regular illustration work—commissions of people and pets that you love. These will be more realistic portraits, using my watercolor and colored pencil techniques. Please see product photos to see the examples I have created.

I recently rediscovered my love for painting portraits, and I thought it would be a refreshing change of pace to make them for you.

To start, I am opening watercolor/mixed media commission for individuals, couples, or pets. Eventually I am hoping to open family commissions, but I need to gain additional practice before I feel comfortable doing this. I am offering a standard size of 11" by 14" at the price of $100 for a couple's portrait and $75 for an individual or pet portrait. If you need a smaller size, we can discuss, but the price would remain the same.

If this seems like a hefty price point to you, let me break down the costs. The main expense is time. These commissions are handcrafted with much time and thought put into each detail. These projects can take anywhere from 5-10 hours each. The other expense is the materials. I strive to use quality supplies so that your art will last and unfortunately that, too, has a reasonable price tag.

If you choose to order a commission, you will receive a form to fill out, along with a follow up email requesting additional information. Once I receive all the information I need to proceed, I will get to work. The commission should be completed two weeks from when I receive the details. Shipping (in the U.S.) may take 5-7 days. If you need it expedited, we can discuss that option as well.

I am so grateful for the opportunity to make some more personalized art for you, and I hope you are excited as well. I am looking forward to working on art that you and your family will cherish.

As always, I welcome any questions or comments you may have. God bless!
